About the artist:
Shirley Ho started drawing at the age of 5 influenced by her father, Ho Ho Ying and had participated and won many children art competitions in Singapore since 1982. One such was a national art competition organised by Singapore Airline in 1984 held at the former Singapore National Stadium about “The Future Year 2000” in which she won the 4th prize. Shirley is also an environmental advocate and nature enthusiast who views art and music with a purpose. She promotes Upcycling Art by conducting workshops to encourage upcycling and has started “Music Inspired by Nature” campaign to support Nature Society Singapore since 2019 to raise awareness of nature conservation through her music. Shirley is a self-taught singer songwriter since 2016 and Spotify artist who writes songs inspired by nature and social realities. She is currently exploring her own style of painting to her original music. Her debut abstract artwork, “Winter’s Day” is painted to her original song, Winter’s Day expressing the melancholic snowfall as parallel to the impact of pandemic. It is her unique way of expressing her creativity by fusing her love for nature, music and art onto her canvas.
